Notions Coffee is a UK coffee consultancy for first-time café and roastery owners. We work at the point where the idea meets the reality. Helping people build coffee businesses that are financially sound, operationally tight, and genuinely good to be in.

Notions was founded by Myles Buckley, who brings over 12 years of experience in the specialty coffee industry. His background spans both independent ventures and commercially driven projects, giving him a practical understanding of what makes a coffee operation succeed. He has been directly involved in launching and scaling concepts such as Hidden Coffee and its roastery, Send, alongside Solace Coffee CIC, a social enterprise focused on supporting at-risk youth through training and employment pathways within the coffee sector.
Over the last five years, Myles has focused on coffee shop design, operational strategy, and consultancy for a range of brands across retail, hospitality, and workspace environments. His work includes collaborations with companies such as Diptyque, LimeBike, WeWork, and other growing businesses looking to integrate high-quality coffee into their customer experience. This includes everything from workflow planning and equipment selection to menu development and staff training.
This depth of experience is a core advantage. Notions works with brands that want more than a standard coffee offer, focusing instead on building high-performing, commercially viable coffee operations. The approach combines quality-driven sourcing, efficient bar design, and scalable systems to ensure consistency, speed of service, and strong margins over time.

Opening a café is one of the more technically complex things a person can do — and one of the least supported. Most people arrive at it from a love of coffee, not a background in operations, finance, and brand strategy. We don't think that's a problem. We think that's what we're for.

Michael has spent five years focused on one thing: making coffee bars run better. Before joining Notions, he managed operations for a seven-site group in the Republic of Ireland, where he rebuilt bar workflows, wrote training standards, and cut average service time across every site.
